The thickest matcha parfait in Kyoto. Cafe at the three Michelin-starred Kyoto Kikunoi. Salon de Muguet.

Café produced by Kikunoi, a three-star Michelin restaurant in Kyoto,

Salon de Muge is famous for its super-dense matcha parfait.

This luxurious sweet is made using matcha from Tsujiri, another long-established matcha tea shop in Kyoto.

Located next to Kikunoi Honten, past Gion, Maruyama Park and Kodaiji Temple in Kyoto.

The streets here are narrow and there are many tourists, so a taxi is convenient.

The station is Gion Shijo, but it takes more than 10 minutes on foot.

It is a good course for a walk, though.

If you go by car, the parking lot will cost you 1500 yen for about two hours.

Kikunoi’s casual line of restaurants also offers lunch.

Although casual, the architecture is of the authentic style, created by the master of sukiya-style architecture, Saiji Nakamura.

In spring, April, the cherry trees will be in full bloom.

We went there in March, so it was still a bit early.

The moss will be a perfect green colour when the weather turns a little more spring-like.

If cherry petals were to fall on it, it would be beautiful.

The restaurant also has a beautiful view of the garden, with as few pillars as possible.

You can enjoy a cup of coffee while eating sweets and relaxing here, which is the best part of Kyoto.

Incidentally, the café starts at 14:45.

We went at around 15:30 on Sunday and had to wait 15 minutes.

Well, if that’s about it. But if it’s on-season, it’s better to make a reservation.

Also art entitled ‘Impervious’. Hmmm, I don’t understand.

無碍山房サロンドムゲ6

There is also a shop selling goods. The ingredients for ochazuke (rice with tea and pickles), ummmm, looks delicious.

I want this.

無碍山房サロンドムゲ7

‘Chicken Salt Soup Noodles’, 460 yen; ‘KUJO Negi Hosozame Riki Udon’, etc.

‘Chicken Salt Soup Noodles’ sounds like Japanese food, but it’s totally ramen lol.

Three Michelin star ramen is certainly something to be concerned about.

There is also a Koetsu fence, and the atmosphere is good.

Actually, if you look towards the mountain, you can see a lot of graves.

The graves of the Ryoma Sakamoto can also be seen here,

That’s a sightseeing trip and kills two birds with one stone, right?

Kikunoi water lol. Does that mean we can consider it to be water from Kikunoi, one of the seven famous waters of Kyoto?

Certainly, you can see that it is different.

But in an interview with Kikunoi, it’s not from an old well,

It’s groundwater borehole drilled from underneath the Kikunoi site,

I wonder if that’s what he meant.

they checked the quality of the water and found that it was the same as Kikunoi’s wells or something.

Now the sweets menu.

Tarte tatin (1,000 yen), Amao sorbet (1,000 yen), old pudding (1,000 yen), etc.

There is also a ‘Kikunoi Honten’s dessert of the month’ (1,000 yen).

The catch is, ‘Aren’t you curious about Kikunoi Honten’s desserts?’ I can’t believe they said that themselves, lol.

無碍山房サロンドムゲ16

There is also a wide variety of chiffon cakes and marron cakes.

But, of course, we have to have..,

無碍山房サロンドムゲ12

Mugesanbou Dark Matcha Parfait (1,300 yen)!

The parfait is said to contain ‘a lot of the best Uji matcha green tea’.

無碍山房サロンドムゲ13

Seriously super thick. The balance of sweetness and bitterness, it has an impact.

Other punchy ingredients include matcha jelly, white rice balls and sponge cake with ginger.

The overall taste is strong. Kyo-bancha tea is also included, but it certainly makes you want a cup of tea.

This is the highest level of intensity for those who want a matcha parfait with gusto.

This is chiffon cake.

It is served with a warmed chocolate sauce.

It matches the acidity of the fruit, such as strawberries, blueberries, raspberries and kiwi.

Anyway, the whole thing is so rich!

I want to eat sweets! I feel like I hit my desire for sweets head-on.

As you would expect from Kikunoi, the casual line, even when it comes to sweets, there is no change in their genuine orientation.
