What is the difference between “Kyoto sushi” and “Edomae sushi”? “Yanagiya Main Store” on Sanjo Dori

The "Yanagiya Main Store" is located in the middle of Kyoto, called Sanjo-dori Tominokoji-dori.

Speaking of Sanjo-dori, the entrance to Kyoto from Tokaido.

That's the main street from the old days. A nice street with fashionable shops.

Den! "Yanagiya Main Store" stands.

At the station, it's about a 10-minute walk from Kyoto Shiyakusho-mae Station.

It is quite a well-known restaurant style, as it says that it boasts dishes using high-class ingredients such as conger, blowfish, and queu dishes.

For the time being, "Kyosushi" is the number one selling item, so it's a sushi restaurant.

So what is "Kyosushi"? But when I look at the website, I can't help but think, "That's not the case."

I would like to know more about the ingredients and cooking methods, but the dark side history of "Stop using Yami rice" is written.

Well, it's different. That's the view of the restaurant-like "Kyosushi".

Well, in general, "Edomae sushi" = sushi with preparation.

It's so-called "working" sushi, such as boiling, pickling, and vinegaring before squeezing.

Boiled clams, pickled tuna, kohada, etc.
So, it's "Kyo sushi", but after all pressed sushi is the best.

"Kamibako sushi" of "Izuju" is elegant and very like Kyoto sushi.

Also, steamed sushi is quite Kyoto-like, isn't it? "Suehiro" or "Otowa".

Well, in other words, I don't hold it very much.

Another method is to hold it softly and put it on top like a dish, like "Fukagawa Joryu" near Kyoto Shiyakusho-mae Station.

I think this is pretty close to the public image of Kyoto sushi.

With a gorgeous feeling. For example, putting a blowfish milt on it.

Also, "Mametora", "Hana Azusa" and "AWOMB" Temari sushi.

This area is very Kyoto-like.

It looks like it's still evolving.

So, going back to the story, when I entered the store, I found a sushi restaurant in the Showa era. I really like this appearance.

It's old, but it's neat and tidy.

When you enter for lunch on weekdays, there is a group of foreigners in the store. only.

Isn't that popular at all? It looks a little expensive, so I'm a little tired of entering.

And I ordered "Sushi Lunch" for 1500 yen.

Salad, miso soup, and sushi are 4 pieces of sushi, 2 pieces of pressed sushi, and 4 pieces of sushi rolls.

Well, this is about the quantity. .. It's a little expensive.

Considering the location of Sanjo-dori in Kyoto, it can't be helped.

And the taste. This is also normal. Seriously normal. Very orthodox.

No, it's not bad. .. Is it like the level of sushi delivered?

It's like taking delivery to a nearby sushi restaurant at a funeral.

I wonder if the night is delicious.

I often think that I've been doing this in this place since the Taisho era.

Is it supported by regulars?

Looking at the HP, it is being renovated until around December 2017.

The atmosphere is not bad, so I'd like to take a look at the redesigned "Yanagiya Main Store".
