The reason why Kyoto’s oldest shrine, Kamigamo Shrine, a national treasure and a world heritage site, is loved by Kyoto people.
Kamigamo Shrine, the oldest shrine in Kyoto.
The real name is "Kamigamo-jinja Shrine".
It happened that the ancient people of this region, Kamo's deity, was enshrined.
So what is surprising is
It's not a super famous god like Amaterasu Omikami of Ise Jingu or Okuninushi Okami of Izumo Taisha, which is mentioned in "Kojiki".
It was made before the Heian period, during the Nara period. It's old because it's still before Kyoto was built.
Access is a little far from the train. Is it the closest station to Kitayama station?
Even so, it's a pain to walk. If you take a taxi, it's about 2 meters from there.
If it is a car, there is a parking lot, which is convenient.
If you don't have a car, the bus would be the best.
From Kyoto Station, take 9 city buses to Kamigamo Shrine.
The precincts are wide anyway.
After entering the torii gate for the first time, the large lawn site has expanded.
The cherry blossoms here bloom early in Kyoto and are famous.
Also, there is Shinme. It seems that Kamigamo Shrine originated. Kyoto is the birthplace of Makkah, so I'm not surprised anymore.
Atmosphere with few people. You can relax and worship.
As expected, tourists do not come so far.
In this respect, it is understandable that many people list Kyoto people as their favorite shrine.
Somehow, it has a peaceful and sacred atmosphere.
One of the reasons why it is so popular with Kyoto people is the stream that flows through the precincts.
It's generous that you can go inside the zabuzabu even though it has a tasteful and elegant atmosphere.
In the summer, it is shaded under the lush trees, and when you put your feet in the stream, it is cool and healed.
It feels good not only for children but also for adults.
It feels physically good before spiritual, power spots, healing spots, and so on.
The main shrine is a national treasure and has been selected as a World Heritage Site, so it's already of the highest quality, but it's a simple, clear and comfortable place.
I personally think that the order of formation of sacred sanctuaries and spiritual power spots is reversed.
An old man thought, "Oh, this place feels good."
It was erected with the words, "Then, I'm worshiping God.
(Of course, the story is correct after descending to Kamiyama behind.)
Many people have said, "It's a pleasant place because there is only a place where God is."
Then, "I feel healed when I come here" or "I feel like I got power when I come here!"
It will be called a power spot or a healing spot.
Well, I think the correct answer is to feel a comfortable place with your skin without worrying about which god is that god.
Let's go inside.
From the beautiful area of the lawn to the site where the white sand is beautiful.
The symmetrical sandy mountains are beautiful.
Japanese-style architecture is lined up. The cypress-roofed roof is cool.
It's well-ventilated and I really want to put a sofa here for lunch. It's no good.
If you go to the back of this river, you will find a pleasant forest area.
So I can see it. A bright vermilion gate. It's beautiful.
The contrast with the blue of the sky is beautiful.
The main shrine in this. National treasure. Of course, shooting is prohibited inside. ..
You can hear stories about the god of Kamigamo Shrine and its origins.
The Omikuji is "Yatagarasu Omikuji". The faces look bad.
A nice atmosphere of coffee. However, the business spirit is also plump.
There are other companies here and there besides the main shrine.
A landscape of climbing a small hill on the premises. It's unexpectedly high.
After visiting, we recommend taking a walk around the premises.
It's a shrine that is worth a walk.
